Celebrity Style: The #EverydayPhenomenal Wedding

Welcome back everyone,

Sonam Kapoor tied the knot with Anand Ahuja in one of the grandest and most exciting Bollywood weddings (observed from all the Instagram stories) ever in recent times.

Sonam is known for being a Fashionista, Trendsetter and Style Queen and we wouldn’t have expected one of the biggest days of her life to showcase her as any less.

I’m going to be breaking down each of Sonam’s looks during her wedding ceremonies, and also show you the best dressed celebs who attended the festivities.

I’ve always loved Sonam as a fashion inspiration, and her wedding looks sure did leave me with a lot of fresh ideas and awe-struck moments. Moreover, you know I really loved seeing all the pictures when I started dreaming about my own future wedding! (haha)

Outfit 1: For the pre-mehendi function, Sonam wore a pastel pink and lilac sharara with intricate golden embroidery and gota work on the borders. The dress was embellished with beads and zardosi stones. She looked so glowing and happy! Her statement earrings are hard to miss. Gorgeous start to the wedding, let’s see how she decided to style the rest of her outfits.

Outfit 2: For the Mehendi ceremony, the theme was ‘shades of white’ and the bride-to-be looked like an angel in an ivory and gold lehenga with chikankari work. What I can’t get over is her jaw-dropping kundan jewellery. Her gold and polki jhumkas, the stunning multi-layered choker necklace, maang tikka, and bangle transformed her look to the next level! My FAVOURITE ensemble of the 3 day event J

Did you know it took 18 months to get made?

Outfit 1: For the wedding function, Sonam decked up in a red traditional lehenga with lotus patterns, golden embroidery and detailing. Some of you thought the jewellery was too much, but I think it looked very grand and the individual jewellery pieces were so breath-taking that it made the combined look even better. Overall, a very heavy look but it is a phenomenal wedding after all!

Outfit 2: After the wedding, Sonam changed into another pastel pink and lilac lehenga, keeping it relatively simple with a gajra bun, traditional choora red bangles and large golden statement earrings.

Designer: Anamika Khanna

Outfit 1: Sonam pleasantly surprised us in a brown-grey and off-white, with a full-sleeved top and chevron patterned lehenga with a sheer organza dupatta. I really like this look, it’s not over the top, and she can really pull of anything! Her polki jewellery looks pretty different too right? But I’m a true fan of her looks and I love her styling choices. I do wish she went with a brown or mauve lip though.

Outfit 2:

Sonam changed into a white chikankari kaftan for her after-party celebrations. She wore the same jewellery, to complete the most minimal look of her wedding celebrations. Most comfortable and chic outfit to end it all with!

The Best Dressed Stars at the #EverydayPhenomenal Reception

Swara Bhaskar

Her solid black blouse with bell sleeves and a tuxedo collar makes for a perfect minimal look, but just right to show off her gorgeous polki neckpiece. Her neat bun shows off her polki earrings and maang tikka nicely too. Her skirt isn’t the most interesting choice, but her jewellery steals the attention anyway.

Alia Bhatt

Alia left us speechless in her lime green lehenga paired with statement diamond neckpiece with a matching maang tikka. Simple, elegant, classic.

Aishwarya Rai

Aishwarya looked like her usual dreamy self in a silver embellished Manish Malhotra anarkali with statement earrings. I’m glad she opted out of a neckpiece to keep the look classy.

Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor

The younger pair of Kapoor sisters looked great as usual at the wedding, in somewhat coordinated looks. Which sister’s look do you prefer? I’m leaning towards Khushi’s lemon yellow outfit with Rajastani mirror work on the lehenga.

Here are their bling Manish Malhotra reception outfits. I definitely like Khushi’s one-piece pink/peach/golde ombre dress way over Janhvi’s Cinderella-like blouse and lehenga. What do you think?

Kareena Kapoor

Kareena was looking as young (and hot) as ever in her dark gold lehenga with detailed chikankari work and scales of silver sequins in the skirt. Pretty safe choice, but still stuns nevertheless.

Kareena’s pink anarkali look at the wedding with silver detailing is pretty and elegant. Her makeup is clean and fresh, and how I’d like to own a pair of earrings like that! Look at little Taimur, such a cutie isn’t he?

Mira Kapoor

Mira took a risk with this contemporary black and white outfit; a white blouse with lacework, a white belt and black pants, with a sheer silk dupatta draped across her body under the belt, and back up again behind.

Her statement kundan neckpiece was the only exception to her otherwise monochrome look and she also opted out of wearing earrings to make this look simpler. It was a grand look, but surely one to remember.

It took me a long time to find some good quality pictures from the event, and unfortunately I couldn’t include all the celebs who showed up in style.

Did you like all of the celeb guests’ looks? And which Sonam avatar did you like the most? Comment below on my post/on my Instagram.

Hope you liked browsing through all the pics J

See you soon,
